The game ended in 1892. Italy and the United States both placed control markers in the Phillipines (which the Spanish had lost in 1888 to Unrest), while Britain and Japan both placed Influences there as well. After a failed Congress of Europe, Japan declared war on both Italy and America, and Britain joined as an ally. Germany, followed by Austria-Hungary, joined Italy as defensive allies, ending the game in a four-European power Great War. As the first declarer, Japan was the sole power to receive the Great War penalty. There was one Chinese Rebellion in 1888.
